Advent Symphony

Here's another hymn I wrote a few years back. If you're not familiar with the tune, Monkland, click here to hear it on Cyber Hymnal.

Meter: 7.7.7.7
Tune: Monkland

God Himself will give a sign,
Visible to all mankind.
Sound the trumpet; swell the chord,
‘Tis the advent of our Lord.

Angel hosts upon the wing
Tidings of a great joy bring.
Pluck the harp and swell the chord,
‘Tis the advent of our Lord.

Shepherds rush to Bethlehem,
Leave poor flocks for God’s own Lamb.
Play the pipe and swell the chord,
‘Tis the advent of our Lord.

Bring Him gifts of royal worth;
Heaven’s King has come to earth.
Strike the drum and swell the chord,
‘Tis the advent of our Lord.

Hail! Emmanuel is He,
Shouts the joyous symphony!
Ring the bells and swell the chord,
‘Tis the advent of our Lord!

Soli Deo Gloria
